School Playground

Introduction
This is the playground upgrade project for Elizabeth School in the UK, designed to create an inclusive, safe, and durable play environment for students of all ages and abilities. The project required a multi-color EPDM flooring system that meets strict British safety standards, offering excellent impact absorption, slip resistance, and UV stability to withstand year-round use and UK weather conditions.
Our ApproacH
We developed a tailored solution using our Safixland Core Series (20% rubber content, ideal for UK primary school playgrounds):
Custom Color & Pattern Matching: We precisely formulated four colors (black, orange, green, blue) to define activity zones and geometric patterns, ensuring consistent color batches and sharp, clear lines that complement the school’s inclusive play design.
British Safety Standard Compliance: We supplied 1-3.5mm EPDM granules (20% rubber content, ROHS/REACH compliant) paired with our aliphatic PU binder. This combination meets UK safety standards, delivering reliable shock absorption, slip resistance, and anti-yellowing performance for children’s play areas.
Installation & Technical Support: We provided detailed installation guidelines for multi-color zone work, including mixing ratios, curing conditions, and on-site tips to prevent color bleeding, ensuring clean, seamless transitions between the different colored zones.
Durability for UK Climate: The Core Series system is engineered to withstand the UK’s variable weather, resisting fading, cracking, and wear from rain, frost, and heavy foot traffic, ensuring long-term performance with minimal maintenance.
WHAT WE DID
• Delivered the custom-colored Safixland Core Series EPDM granules on schedule, supporting the school’s playground upgrade timeline.
• The finished flooring achieved a smooth, seamless multi-color surface with sharp, clear geometric patterns, perfectly complementing the school’s inclusive play equipment and design.
• The EPDM surface meets all UK safety standards, providing excellent shock absorption and slip resistance for students using swings, slides, and inclusive play equipment.
• The school was highly satisfied with the durability, color retention, and performance of our Core Series materials, noting the playground has become a bright, safe, and inclusive space for all students.
